There are some medical conditions in which you cannot take Yohimbine or you need lower or special monitoring during the therapy. These include kidney disease, peptic ulcer disease, suffering from depression, being treated for a psychiatric condition, or have any type of heart disease. You should avoid the medication if you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant or if you are breast-feeding a baby. Take the medication exactly as prescribed to you by your doctor. If it is difficult to understand the instructions, then get help from your pharmacist. You should take each dose with a glass of water. You can take the medication usually three times a day and follow the instructions of your doctor. Place the medication at room temperature and away from heat and moisture.

If you miss a dose then take it as soon as you remember and if the time is near to take the next scheduled dose and skip the missed dose and go back to your regular scheduled dose. Don’t try to take double doses at the same time. If you suspect overdose then get emergency medical help. The symptoms of overdose include increased blood pressure (blurred vision, severe headache, flushing), fast heart rate, numbness or tingling, runny nose, tremor, anxiety, poor coordination, confusion or abnormal behavior. If you are taking the medication then be careful when you are driving, operating machinery or other activities, which require high alertness because the medication may cause dizziness.

If you experience any of the following serious side effects, then you should stop the medication and get emergency medical help. These side effects include signs of allergic reactions like difficulty in breathing, closing of your throat, swelling of your lips, tongue, or face, or hives, irregular heartbeats, confusion or unusual behavior. There are other less serious side effects which occur likely and if occur, you should continue your medication. These include dizziness, tremor, skin flushing, anxiety, irritability, nervousness, and headache. There are chances of other side effects which are not listed above. If they seem unusual or they become bothersome, then talk with your doctor.

If you have decided to take the medication then inform your doctor if you are already using some other drugs. These drugs include medicines for depression, mania, or another psychiatric condition. You should not make a combination of Yohimbine with the above drugs. The drugs which are not listed above can interact with the medication and can affect your condition. If you require more help about the medication, then you can get help from your pharmacist or your health professional.
