Yasmin

Yasmin is used to prevent ovulation and make changes to your cervical mucous and uterine lining and create obstacles for sperm to reach the uterus. In this way, it becomes difficult for a fertilized egg to attach to the uterus. The medication is also used to treat acne of moderate degree in women who are in the age of 14 years and their menstrual periods have just started and whose intention is to take birth control pills to prevent pregnancy. The medication can also be used for some other purposes which are not listed above.
You should avoid taking the medication if you have allergic reactions to drospirenone or ethinyl estradiol or you have the following medical conditions like history of stroke, blood clot, or circulation problems of diabetes, migraine headaches, adrenal gland disorder, kidney disorder or liver disorder, unusual vaginal bleeding, a type of breast, uterine, or hormone-dependent cancer, history of jaundice, or if your menstrual period have not yet started. In the following conditions, you cannot use the medication. You may need dosage adjustment or you have to carry out special tests during the treatment. It include high blood pressure, heart disease, high cholesterol, history of depression, liver cancer, gallbladder disease, seizures or epilepsy, history of irregular menstrual cycles, history of breast or uterine cancer. The medication belongs to FDA pregnancy category X, which means that it can cause birth defects, so if you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant then tell your doctor. The medication can appear in the milk of nursing mother and may be harmful to the nursing baby, so if you are beast-feeding a baby, then tell your doctor.



Take the medication as prescribed to you by your doctor and don’t take larger amount of the medication. You should use back-up birth control like condoms or a spermicide when you begin taking Yasmin. The packing of the medication comes with 28-day birth control pills which include both active and reminder pills in order to keep you on your regular cycle and your period begin you start using these reminder pills. You should take one pill daily and the gap between two doses should be not more than 24 hours. If you leave the medication then you could be pregnant. If the bleeding starts, then tell your doctor immediately. If you have to carry out any type of surgery then inform your doctor and you may need to stop taking the medication for short time.

If you experience any signs of the allergic reactions like hives, difficulty in breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat then get emergency medical help. If you experience the following serious side effects then you need to stop the medication and get emergency medical help. It include sudden numbness, or weakness, especially on one side of the body, chest pain or heavy feeling pain, sweating, general ill feeling, confusion, pain behind the eyes, problems with vision, speech, or balance, migraine headaches, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, jaundice, breast lump, and symptoms of depression.
