Vivelle
Vivelle
Vivelle is used in the treatment of certain symptoms of menopause like dryness, burning, and itching of vaginal area. The medication is also used to treat urgency or irritation of urination. Vivelle is used in the treatment of ovarian disorders, infertility, and abnormal vaginal bleeding. The medication is also used for some other purposes that are not listed above.You should avoid taking the medication if you have history of stroke or circulation problems, bleeding, abnormal vaginal bleeding, or any type of breast, uterine, or hormone-dependent cancer. Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, angina, heart disease, high cholesterol, triglycerides, asthma, kidney disease, and liver disease, migraines, diabetes, depression, or gallbladder disease. In these conditions, you cannot take the medicateon or you have to carry out special tests or manage dosage adjustment.
If you use the medication for longer time then your risk of stroke will be increased. You should visit your doctor in order to monitor the progress of the medication. The medication belongs to FDA pregnancy category X which means that it can cause birth defects. If you are pregnant or plan to be pregnant then tell your doctor and keep using an affective form of birth control. The medication may appear in the milk of nursing mother and cause harm to nursing baby and may slow down the production of breast milk. If you are breast-feeding a baby then tell your doctor before taking the medication.
Take the medication as prescribed to you by your doctor and avoid taking the medication in larger amount. You should apply skin patch on clean and dry skin on your stomach, lower back, or buttocks. You should avoid applying the skin patch on your breast. You need to visit your doctor in order to examine your breast for lumps on monthly basis, while you are taking the medication. Place the medication at room temperature and away from heat and moisture.
If you miss a skin patch, then apply it as soon as you remember, and if the time is near to apply the next scheduled patch then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular scheduled dose. If you suspect overdose then get emergency medical help. The symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, and vaginal bleeding. You should avoid other vaginal products without the consent of your doctor.
If you experience any of the signs of allergic reactions like hives, difficulty in breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, then contact with your doctor immediately. There are some serious side effects like chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, sweating, general ill feeling, pain or swelling in your lower leg, abnormal vaginal bleeding, pain, swelling, or tenderness in your stomach, jaundice, and lump in your breast. The other less serious side effects which occur more likely like swollen breasts, vaginal pain, dryness or discomfort, swelling of your ankles or feet, depression, acne or skin color changes, and changes in the menstrual periods.
