Vicoprofen

Vicoprofen is a painkiller and it is used to treat acute pain. Vicoprofen is somewhat similar with Vicodin. You can use the medication for short time. The medication is a combination of analgesic and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, which is prescribed for pain relief on short-term basis.

Take the medication as prescribed to you by your doctor and don’t take larger amount of the medication. You should take the amount of dose as directed to you by your doctor. If you miss a dose then take it as soon as you remember and if the time is near to take the next scheduled dose then skip the missed dose and go back to your regular scheduled dose. Never try to take double doses at the one time. You should place the medication at room temperature and away from heat and moisture.

The side effects of the medication cannot be anticipated. If you experience them, then inform your doctor immediately. Doctor knows well whether they are safe or risky for you. The common side effects include abdominal pain, anxiety, constipation, diarrhea, insomnia, itching, and loss of strength, nausea, nervousness, sweating, swelling, vomiting, indigestion, infection, headache, gas, dry mouth, dizziness, and drowsiness. If you ever used ibuprofen or aspirin, and it gave you allergic attack then you should avoid the medication. You also avoid taking the medication if you have allergic reaction to hydrocodone or other narcotic painkillers.



If you are taking Vicoprofen then it can make you drowsy, so you should avoid the activities like car driving and operating machinery, which require high alertness. You should not combine the medication with alcohol, sedatives, tranquilizers, other narcotics painkillers, because they can increase drowsiness. You should take the medication with caution, especially if you have liver or kidney disorder, heart failure, or lupus etc. Ibuprofen present in Vicoprofen, which has reported to cause ulcers and stomach bleeding, can start without warning. If you experience such like threat in the past, then inform your doctor. Smoking, drinking, and old age can aggravate the condition of stomach. If you notice the following signs then stop the medication and get emergency medical help. These include stomach or intestinal bleeding, blurred vision or other eye problems, and skin rash.

There are certain drugs which can interact with the medication and they can increase, decrease or alter the effect of Vicoprofen. It include ACE inhibitor like capoten and Vasotec, antipressants like elavil, norpramin, and pamelor, antihistamines like benadryl, chlorpheniramine and tavist, aspirin, blood thinning drugs like coumadin, drugs that is used to control spasms like artane and cogentin, lithium, other narcotic painkillers like Demerol, morphine, and percocet, sleeping pills like haocion and Restoril, tranquilizers like ativan, valium, and xanax.

If you suspect overdose then get emergency medical help, because the overdose of Vicoprofen can be fatal. The symptoms include slowed breathing, extreme drowsiness, muscles weakness, cold and clammy skin, low blood pressure, slowed heart rate, stomach and intestinal irritation, headache, dizziness, ringing in the ears, confusion, blurred vision, eye problems, inflammation of the skin in the mouth, skin rash, swelling, difficulty in breathing, heart attack, and coma.
