Triazolam
Triazolam
Triazolam belongs to a class of drugs known as benzodiazepines that is used to affect the unbalanced chemicals in the brain and induce sleep in the person who has problem of insomnia. It can also be used for other purposes which are not discussed here.Sometimes the medication can produce a condition in which a person doesn’t know later what he has done. If you feel such conditions, then contact immediately your doctor. You should avoid taking the medication if you have allergic reactions to triazolam or other benzodiazepines like alprazolam, chlordiazepoxide, clorazepate, diazepam, and lorazepam. When you have decided to take the medication then tell your doctor in detail if you are allergic to any drugs or if you have asthma, emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, bronchitis or other breathing problems, glaucoma, kidney disease, liver disease, myasthenia gravis, history of depression or suicidal thoughts, history of drug or alcohol addiction. If you have these conditions then you cannot take the medication or you have to perform some special tests during the treatment with the medication. The medication can be harmful to unborn baby and cause addiction or withdrawal symptoms in the newborn baby. So those women who are pregnant or planning to be pregnant should avoid taking triazolam. The medication may pass into the milk of nursing mother and can be harmful to the nursing baby, so those women who are breast-feeding a baby should avoid the medication. The medication is not recommended for the children under the age of 18.
Take the medication as prescribed to you by your doctor and avoid larger amount of the medication. You should take the medication when you have many hours for sleeping. If the medication is not working well then consult with your doctor. The treatment with triazolam should be on short term basis. If you have taken the medication for 7 to 10 nights then contact with doctor that whether you can take the medication more or not. You may get the symptoms of insomnia again due to the sudden stop of the medication. You need to reduce the amount of dose with the time before stopping the medication. Keep the medication at room temperature and away from heat and moisture.
There is no strict schedule for taking the dose of triazolam, but you have to take the medication when you sleep. If you suspect any symptoms of overdose then contact with your doctor immediately and get medical help. The overdose can be fatal, if you use alcohol with it. Other symptoms of overdose include extreme drowsiness, slow heartbeat, shallow breathing, slurred speech, confusion, muscle weakness, feeling light-headed, fainting, seizure, or coma.
If you get any of the signs of allergic reactions then stop the mediation and get emergency medical help. It include hives, swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, and difficulty in breathing. You can experience some serious side effects like weak or shallow breathing, fast or pounding heartbeats, hallucinations, agitation, aggression, confusion, slurred speech, unusual thoughts, pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms, problems with urination, nausea, stomach pain, low fever, loss of appetite, dark urine, and jaundice.
