Tapazole

Tapazole is used to avoid the condition in which thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone. The medication works in the way to create obstacle for the body to use iodine for producing thyroid hormone.

Before taking the medication, tell your doctor if you are allergic to Tapazole or any of its ingredients or other substances like foods, preservatives, or dyes. If you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant then you should tell your doctor because it may cause problems to fetus, but if you are monitored specially by your doctor then you may be safe from the problems. The medication appears into milk of nursing mother, but if your dose is low then your doctor may allow you to keep breast-feeding a baby and you have to do check up your infant with your doctor on regular basis. If you are taking the medication in larger amount then you have to stop breast-feeding until the treatment with Tapazole is finished.



Take the medication as prescribed to you by your doctor. You can take Tapazole with or without food but best way is to take with food in order to lessen the stomach upset. Take the medication on regular basis to get the effective result. Don’t try to take the medication for longer than the prescription period, because it can increase the chances of side effects. Dose of the medication is different for different patients, and you should follow instruction of your doctor because the amount of dose depends on the condition of patient. The average doses of adults are 15 to 60 milligrams a day for six to eight weeks and when your condition gets improved then your doctor may lower the dose to 5 to 30 mg a day. Dose for children depends on the weight of children and average dose is 0.4 mg per kg of body a day.

If you miss a dose then take it as soon as you remember and if the time is near to take the next scheduled dose then skip the missed doses and follow your regular schedule of doses. Don’t try to take double doses at the same time. If you suspect overdose then contact immediately with your doctor and get medical help. The symptoms of overdose include chest pain, fever, stomach discomfort, vomiting, headache pain, joint pain, irritability, and nausea. Keep the medication at room temperature and away from heat and direct light.

You can experience the following side effects like change in taste, headache, itching, stomach pain, swelling, tingling, nausea, nerve irritation, muscle pain, enlargement of the salivary and lymph glands, hair loss, and drowsiness. There are some serious side effects like hives, difficulty in breathing, and tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, anemia, unusual bruising or bleeding, fever, severe liver problems, sore throat, yellowing of eyes or skin. If you experience the above symptoms then you should contact your doctor and get emergency medical help. You can also experience some more side effects other than those that are listed above. If they occur then tell your doctor.
