Sporanox

Sporanox is used to treat certain fungal infections like infections of nails, skin, hands, feet or groin. It is also used to treat the infections of the vagina and the infections of eye. It is used to treat the infections of the mouth or throat in those patients who have lower resistance to disease. It works in a way that the fungus is killed which is a source of infection. Your doctor may also prescribe the medication for other purposes other than those that are listed above.

Take the medication as directed to you by your doctor and you have to take capsule of Sporanox after meal, while the oral solution should be taken without food. Some people drink cola beverages to absorb the medication. While you are taking Sporanox, you should avoid antacid or if it is essential then you should take antacid one hour before or two hours after taking Sporanox. The tablets and oral Sporanox should not be used interchangeably.

If you miss a dose then take it as soon as you remember and if the time is near to take the next scheduled dose then skip the missed dose and follow your regular schedule doses. Keep the medication at room temperature and protect from direct light and moisture, and don’t let it to freeze.



The side effects of Sporanox could not be anticipated and if you experience any side effects and they become intensified then you should contact with your doctor. The common side effects include anxiety, injury, muscle pain, swelling due to water retention, fatigue, headache, diarrhea, bursitis, urinary infection, vomiting, nasal and sinus inflammation, nausea, pain, rash, fever, gas, and high blood pressure. If you are using oral solution of Sporanox then you can experience the side effects like back pain, blood in the urine, hot flushes, impaired speech, vision problems, weight loss, shivering, sweating, pneumonia, insomnia, dehydration, chest pain, difficulties in breathing, blood in the urine, inflamed mouth, hemorrhoids, and difficulty in swallowing.

You should avoid taking Sporanox if you are sensitive or allergic to Sporanox or similar antifungal drugs like nizoral. Those people who have heart problems should avoid taking Sporanox, because it can create negative effect on the heart. Those who take Sporanox at the same time with cisapride, levacetylmethadol, pimozide, or cholesterol-lowering drugs called statins, like mevacor and zocor, they can get serious threat of heart problems, even death. If you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant then you should avoid taking Sporanox for the treatment of fungal nail infections. If you have cystic fibrosis or low white blood cell then don’t take Sporanox. The medication passes into milk of nursing mother and may be harmful to infant so those women who are breast-feeding a baby should avoid taking Sporanox and if it is essential then your doctor may advice you to discontinue breastfeeding until your treatment is finished.

If you take Sporanox with other drugs then the effects of the medication could be increased, decreased, or altered. These drugs include acid-blocking drugs like tagamet, pepcid and zantac, blood thinning drugs like coumadin, buspirone, calcium channel blockers like cardene, norvasc, procardia, diazepam, digoxin, clarithromycin, isoniazid, triazolam, trimetrexate, and vinblastine etc.
