Robaxin

Robaxin is used for the relaxation of muscles. It blocks nerve impulses which are sent to the brain. It is used along with rest and physical therapy for the treatment for injuries and other painful muscular conditions. It is also helpful in the treatment of tetanus. Doctors also prescribe the medication for some other purposes that are not listed above. If you want to use Robaxin and if you have kidney disease, liver disease or a seizure disease, then first tell your doctor, because you are unable to take Robaxin in these conditions or you need special monitoring during the treatment with Robaxin. The medication may cause harm to an unborn baby so pregnant women should consult with doctor before taking the medication. It is unknown whether the medication passes into the milk of nursing mother or not, but if the medication is essential for you then doctor will advice you to discontinue the medication until the treatment is finished.

Take the medication as prescribed to you by your doctor and if you cannot understand the instruction then ask from your pharmacist. Take each dose of Robaxin with one full glass of water and you can take the medication three to four times a day. You should keep the medication at room temperature and away from moisture and heat.



If you miss a dose then take it as soon as you get remembered and if the time is near to take the next scheduled dose then skip the missed dose and follow your regular schedule doses. You should not try to take double dose at the same time. If you experience overdose then contact with your doctor and get medical help. The symptoms of overdose include drowsiness, confusion, and unconsciousness. While taking Robaxin, you should avoid the activities which require alertness like driving and operating machine, etc, because the medication may cause dizziness or drowsiness. You should also avoid alcohol during the treatment with Robaxin.

If you experience the following serious side effects then you should stop the medication and get emergency medical help. The symptoms of these side effects include difficulty in breathing, closing of throat, swelling of your lips, tongue, or face, a rash or itching, a fever, or nasal congestion. There are some less serious side effects in which you should continue your medication and tell your doctor. These less severe side effects include drowsiness, headache, blurred vision, lightheadedness, and nausea, a metallic taste in your mouth, brown, black or green urine, dizziness, and fainting.

There are many drugs which can increase the effect of Robaxin and lead to heavy sedation. If you are taking other medication such as antihistaminesl like brompheniramine, chlorpheniramine, azatadine, clemastine, or narcotics like meperidine, morphine, propoxyhene, hydrocodone, oxycodone, or sedatives like Phenobarbital, or phenothiazines like chlorpromazine, or antidepressants like doxepin and imipramine, then tell your doctor before starting treatment with Robaxin.

Adults can take three tablets 4 times a day and if your treatment is for a long time then you should take two tablets four times a day. Robaxin-750 can be taken 4 times a day with a dose of two tablets. If the treatment is on long-term basis then you should take one tablet after every four hours. The medication is not recommended for the children younger than 12 years of age.
