Relafen
Relafen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug which is used to relieve the inflammation, swelling, stiffness, and joint pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. You can take the medication with or without food, but Relafen should be taken according to the instruction of your doctor. During the treatment, you should check yourself on daily basis.If you miss a dose then take it as soon as you get remembered and if it is almost the time to take next scheduled dose then skip the missed dose and follow your regular schedule doses. You should not take double doses at the same time. If you experience symptoms of overdose then consult with your doctor. The symptoms of overdose include stomach bleeding, elevated blood pressure, kidney failure, impaired breathing, and coma. You should keep the medication in the container and keep it tightly closed. Place it at a place where there is no moisture and direct light, and store at room temperature.
The side effects of Relafen cannot be anticipated and if you experience any symptoms of side effects then tell your doctor immediately. Doctor knows well whether it is safe for you or not to continue the medication or not. The common side effects are abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, fluid retention, gas, headache, indigestion, itching, nausea, rash and ringing in ears. You should avoid taking the medication if you are allergic to Relafen or if you have a history of asthma attacks or other allergic reactions with aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
There are some serious consequences of taking the medication, like there are chances of stomach and intestinal ulcers and they occur without any warning. So during the treatment, you should get regular checkup from your doctor. Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease or liver disease, because in these conditions, the medication should be taken with caution. Relafen may cause fluid retention and swelling. You should not take the medication if you are victim of congestive heart failure or high blood pressure. The medication can enable you to become sensitive to sunlight.
Relafen can interact with other drugs and the effect of Relafen can be increased or decreased or altered, so you need to check yourself with your doctor if you are taking drugs of blood-thinners like coumadin and aspirin. These other drugs include diuretics like hydrodiuril and lasix, lithium and methotrexate. If you are pregnant or want to be pregnant then inform your doctor before taking the medication. The medication may pass through the milk of nursing mother and could be harmful for nursing infant. If the medication is important for you, then your doctor may suggest you to discontinue breastfeeding until your treatment with Relafen is finished.
In the beginning, one dose of the medication is given, which is equal to 1000 milligrams and with passage of time, this dose will increase to 2000 milligrams per day. It is usually taken one or two times a day. The medication is not recommended for children.
