Propecia

Propecia is used to prevent the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone in the body. Dihydrotestosterone take part in the development of benign prostatic hyperplasia and hair loss. It is also used in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia and also functions to reduce hair loss due to male pattern baldness.

If you feel that you are losing hairs then you need medical treatment to prevent hair loss. It has been estimated that 80% of men who are using Propecia have stopped or even reversed their hair loss to some extent. The medication is not recommended to women or children because it can cause birth defects when large amount of the medication gets absorbed into the skin.

Before starting the medication, you should tell your doctor if you have liver disease because in this condition, you are not able to take the medication or you have to do special tests during treatment. The medication can only be used by men and women cannot use the medication. It belongs to FDA pregnancy category X which can cause birth defects in an unborn baby so pregnant women should not take the medication because it can absorb into skin. It is not known that whether it passes into milk of nursing mother or not, but they should avoid to take the medication. The tablets should not be exposed because they may be harmful.



Take the medication as your doctor prescribes you, and if you could not understand the instructions, then you can ask your pharmacist. Take it with one full glass of water and you can take the medication with or without food. For better results, the medication should be taken on regular basis. It is possible that your doctor tell about performing your blood tests while taking Propecia. One of the tests is PSA which can help to detect prostate cancer. Propecia reduces the amount of PSA in your blood. Place the medication at room temperature and away from heat and moisture.

Don’t miss a dose and if you miss one, then you should take it as soon as possible and if the time is near to the next dose then skip dose and go on your regular schedule of doses. You should not take larger amount of the medication and if you experience overdose then you should contact with your doctor. There are no restrictions on any food or beverages, while taking the medication.

If you experience the following side effects then you contact with your doctor and have medical help. These side effects include difficulty in breathing, closing of throat, and swelling of the lips, tongue or face. You should continue your medication if some less serious side effects occur, like decreased libido, decreased volume of ejaculate, impotence, and breast tenderness. Other side effects can also be expected. If they occur then you should talk with your doctor. There are no drugs which can interact with Propecia, but you should inform your doctor if you are taking some other drugs.
