Prometrium

Peanut oil is present in some forms of this medication so before starting the medication, you should consult with your doctor if you are allergic to peanut oil. You should avoid Prometrium if you have a history of blood clot or stroke, circulation problems, hormone related cancer like breast or uterine cancer, abnormal vaginal bleeding, or severe liver disease. There are some medical conditions in which you are not able to take the medication or you have to do special medical tests during the treatment. The medical conditions include high blood pressure, heart disease, congestive heart failure, migraines, asthma, kidney disease, seizures, history of depression, and diabetes. The medication belongs to FDA pregnancy category D which means that it may cause harm to an unborn baby so you tell your doctor if you are pregnant or want to be pregnant and take effective form of birth control while using the medication. The medication passes into breast milk and may be harmful to a nursing baby.

Take the medication according to the prescription of your doctor and avoid taking larger amount of the medication. Generally, Prometrium is given for short period of time, like 6 to 12 days during menstrual cycle. You should go on regular schedule of doses to obtain an effective result. The medication is available with safe and effective instruction and you have to use the medication according to the instructions. Take the pill form medication with a full glass of water. Prometrium cream is also applied to the skin as your doctor prescribes you. Prometrium injection is also used according to the prescription of your doctor.



Don’t miss a dose of the medication, but if it happens then take the dose as soon as possible after you remember. If the time is near to the next dose then skip the missed dose and go on your regular schedule of doses. Don’t try to take larger amount of the medication and if you feel that you have taken overdose of the medication then you should contact your doctor.

If you experience the following side effects then you should go to your doctor in order to get medical help. These include hives, difficulty in breathing, and swelling of face, lips, tongue or throat. You should stop to take the medication if you experience the side effects like sudden numbness, sudden headache, confusion, pain behind the eyes, problems with vision, speech, balance, chest pain, pounding heartbeats, stomach pain, low fewer, loss of appetite, dark urine, jaundice, body aches, flu symptoms, breast lump, and symptoms of depression etc. There are other less severe side effects like mild nausea, diarrhea, bloating, stomach cramps, dizziness, mild headache, muscle pain, breast pain, cough, acne, changes in weight, vaginal itching and dryness, and feeling irritable. If you experience one of the above side effects then there is no need to stop taking the medication.
