Prempro

Prempro is a mixture of estrogen hormones. Estrogen is a sex organ in female which is produced by ovaries and it is very important for many functions of your body. The medicine includes conjugated estrogens and medroxyprogesterone. Medroxyprogesterone is also a female hormone and works to regulate ovulation and menstruation. Prempro is used to treat the symptoms of menopause like hot flashes, vaginal dryness, burning and irritation and also help to prevent the thinning of bones.

You should avoid taking the medication if you have the following medical conditions, like history of heart attack, stroke or blood clot in the lung or lower part of body, abnormal vaginal bleeding, liver disease, a type of breast, uterine, or hormone dependant cancer. Before using the medication, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs like high blood pressure, heart disease or circulation problems, diabetes, high cholesterol, high or low level of calcium in the blood, porphyria, asthma, liver or kidney disease, and endometriosis etc. In the presence of above conditions, you are unable to take the medications or you have to take special tests during treatment. The medication belongs to FDA pregnancy category X which can cause birth defects so avoid taking the medication during pregnancy. It can pass into breast milk which may be harmful for the nursing baby and it may also slow the production of breast milk so don’t use the medication if you are breastfeeding a baby.



Take the medication according to the prescription of your doctor and avoid taking larger amount of the medication. Take Prempro with one full glass of water and it come with safe and effective instructions. The 28-days treatment consists of 28 pills of two colors so it is important to know which color should be taken first. You should take physical exams and self-examine your breast for lumps on monthly basis, while taking Prempro. The medication should be taken on daily basis to get best effects. If you need a surgery then tell the doctor before. Keep the medication at room temperature and away from moisture and heat.

If you miss a dose, then take the missed dose as soon as possible, when you get remembered. If the time is for taking the next schedule dose then skip the missed dose and go on your regular schedule of dose. Don’t take overdose of the medication. If you take the double dose then immediately contact your doctor and get help of medical attention. The symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, or vaginal bleeding. You should not smoke while taking Prempro because it can increase the risk of blood clots, stroke or heart attack.

There are some severe side effects in which you should get emergency medical help. These include difficulty in breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat, hives. There are some other side effects in which you should stop the medication, like chest pain, pain in arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling, sudden numbness, headache, confusion, problems with vision, speech or balance, abnormal vaginal bleeding, pain, swelling or tenderness in your stomach, jaundice, swelling of hands, ankles or feet, and breast lump.
