Phentermine

Phentermine is used as a stimulant and it is similar to amphetamine. The medication is an appetite suppressant that creates effect on the central nervous system. It is also used to handle obesity if combination of Phentermine and special diet with exercise is used, which is appropriate for the people who have some problems like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes.

There are certain conditions in which you should not use Phentermine. Don’t use MAO inhibitor like isocarboxazid, phenelzine, rasagiline, and selegiline after Phentermine, because if you take Phentermine before the inhibitor then you may experience some threatening side effects. You cannot take Phentermine with other diet medication, like fenfluramine or dexfenfluramine because it creates rare fatal lung disorder called pulmonary hypertension. Therefore you need to consult your doctor. You should avoid the medication if you are a victim of heart disease, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, overactive thyroid, glaucoma, if you are in an agitated state or have a history of drug or alcohol abuse. If you are taking Phentermine then first tell your doctor if you have some condition like problems with your thyroid, anxiety disorder, seizures disorder, and diabetes. In these conditions, you should avoid taking Phentermine. If you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant or you are breast-feeding your baby, then you should inform your doctor and you don’t give the medication anyone who is younger than 16 years without consulting with your doctor.



You should take the medication according to the prescription of your doctor and avoid taking the medication in larger amount, because taking of high dose of the medication for longer time can cause serious skin problems, sleep problems, personality changes and feeling irritable. You should use a full glass of water to swallow the medication, and it should be taken before meal or at least 10 to 14 hours before sleeping. While taking the medication, don’t crush or chew the capsule, and swallow the capsule whole, because it will release the drug slowly in the body and do its effective function. If you would chew the capsule then the whole drug would be released at the same time. Always avoid taking Phentermine at night time because it can cause sleep problem. If you feel that your hunger has increased, then stop to take the medication.

There are some possible side effects of Phentermine. If you feel the symptoms then you shou;d stop the medication. These symptoms include chest pain, swelling in your ankles or feet, feeling light-headed, fainting or feeling short of breath, irregular heartbeat, unusual thoughts or behavior, restlessness, and high blood pressure. There are other minor side effects but it normally happens and you should not stop your medication. The minor side effects include feeling nervous or anxious, headache, dizziness, tremors, trouble sleeping, dry mouth or unpleasant taste in your mouth, diarrhea or constipation or itching. There are some other drugs which can affect the function of Phentermine like the medicines for high blood pressure, insulin or diabetes which are taken by mouth.
