Paxil

Paxil is used to treat a variety of emotional problems, like continuing depression which interfere with your ability to function. Paxil is related to the class of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Serotonin is a chemical used to govern mood and the chemical is suddenly absorbed when it is released at junctures between nerves. The medication is very effective and you will observe improvement within 1 to 4 weeks and you should continue to take Paxil according to the prescription time of your doctor.



Paxil is taken once daily with food or without food and morning time is more suitable for taking the medication. If you are using other drugs, then you should tell your doctor about it, because it may possible that the drugs may interact with Paxil. If you are using Paxil oral suspension, then it should be shaken well before using, while Paxil CR should be taken as a whole without chewing or crushing it.

It is difficult to anticipate the side effects of drugs. If you feel any changes, you should discuss with your doctor. In the first 4 to 6 weeks, you can experience some side effects like nausea, dizziness, abnormal ejaculation, abnormal orgasm, constipation, decreased appetite, decreased sex drive, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, gas, impotence, male and female genital disorders, nausea, nervousness, sleeplessness, sweating, tremor, weakness and vertigo. Doctors don’t prefer to prescribe their patients Paxil, because of severe and fatal reactions. If Paxil is combined with thioridazine or drugs, such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors and antidepressants, like nardil and parnate, it can create severe reactions, so you should not use these medications with paxil.

There are some foods and drugs, which can interact with Paxil. If Paxil is used with these drugs, the effect of medication can be increased or decreased, so it is important that you tell the doctor about the medicines which you are taking. These include alcohol, antidepressants, aspirin, cimetidine, diazepam, digoxin, flecainide, tramadol, triptans, and warfarin etc. Paxil also create its effect during pregnancy and result in premature birth and create serious complications in newborns, so if you are pregnant or planning to be pregnant, then you should consult your doctor. Paxil also passes into milk of nursing mother and could affect a nursing infants, so care should be taken.
