Nexium
Nexium
The generic name of Nexium is esomeprazole. It is used to reduce the amount of acid produced in the stomach. It contains lansoprazole which is used to treat and prevent stomach and intestinal ulcers, like erosive esophagitis and other conditions which are related to the excess of stomach acid, like zollinger-ellison syndrome. It is also taken to cure symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, excess of stomach acid and it is used to improve the healing of erosive esophagitis. Nexium also functions to get rid of gastric ulcer which is caused by infection with helicobacter pylori or by the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.You should not use the medication if you are allergic to Nexium or to any benzimidazole medication, like albendozole or mebendazole. When you need to Nexium and if you have ever got any kind of liver disease then first consult your doctor before starting the medication, because it may be possible that your doctor prohibits you from taking the medication. Special care must be taken while using medication and you should go according to the advice to your doctor. Remember when you are taking Nexium do not crush, break or open a delayed-release capsule and swallow the capsule as a whole, because when you take as a whole then it release the medicine slowly in the body and if you break it in the mouth, it will cause the whole drug to be released at the same time.
You should take the medicine as prescribed to you by your doctor. Always keep in the mind not to take the medicine in larger amounts. You can take this medicine for about 4 to 8 weeks and it depends on your doctor how longer course he recommends for you. You should take each dose with a full glass of water and take the medication one hour before the meal. Nexium is also taken with the help of nasogastric tube. You have to open the capsule and sprinkle the medicine into the syringe and mix with water. It should be shaken well so that there are no medicine granules in the tip of syringe and then empty the syringe into the tube. To obtain better results, use the medicine regularly and keep the medication at room temperature and place it away from heat and moisture.
If you miss a dose then take the medicine when you remember, but if the time is near for the next dose then skip the missed dose and keep the regular schedule. If you feel that you have taken overdose, then you should go for a doctor. The symptoms of overdose include confusion, headache, drowsiness, and blurred vision, fast heartbeat, nausea, dry mouth, and tremor, loss of coordination, sweating, flushing, or seizure. There are some side effects of Nexium. If you experience them, then go for doctor. The signs of allergic reaction include breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat. There are some other minor side effects and there is no need of fear that includes headache, diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, gas, constipation, and dry mouth.
