Nasacort
Nasacort
The common name of Nasacort is triamcinolone, and it belongs to the group of medications which is called corticosteroids. We can use triamcinolone nasal spray to treat perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis. The function of Nasacort is to decrease the inflammation in the nasal passage and to eliminate symptoms like itchy, runny and stuffy nose and it will show its result in two to three days. Whenever you need to use the medication, first consult it with your doctor. The adults of over 12 years should take two sprays in each nostril. It is reduced to one spray once a day if the desired result is obtained. Children of four to twelve years of age should take one spray in each nostril, once a day. It is also possible that your doctor may increase the dose to two sprays once a day, if the desired result is not obtained.Nasacort AQ is also called triamcinolone acetonide and it is an effective anti-inflammatory steroid with strong topical and weak systemic activity. Nasacort AQ is a form of derivation of Nasacort. Triamcinolone is very stronger than prednisone, which is used for inflammation in animals. Triamcinolone acetonide is about eight times potent then prednisone.
If you administer Nasacort AQ intranasal in therapeutic doses, then it will create anti-inflammatory action on the nasal mucosa. Corticosteroids are very effective but if the allergic symptoms become more severe then corticosteroids are not very effective. Nasacort AQ does not show immediate effect on allergic signs and you will see some improvement after three to four days. Some of patients show no improvement after two to three weeks, so you should stop taking of Nasacort AQ.
You should consult with your health professional before taking the Nasacort AQ and patients should be aware of using the Nasacort AQ. It shows its effect after 2 to 3 days. It is better to use the medication of allergies before expose to allergens. Whenever you have to stop the medication, first ask your doctor. It should not be stopped suddenly because it can create some problems. Children of under the age of four years should not use Nasacort AQ because it can cause growth suppression in children.
If overdose of Nasacort is taken then it will not show its efficacy and it is also possible that the patient experience some gastrointestinal upset. If you use Nasacort with other corticosteroids formulation and you observe the effects like hypercorticism and adrenal suppression, then you should discontinue the medication. In dosage of Nasacort AQ, if your nose produces excessive nasal mucus secretion, then the drug may fail to reach the site of action. So in this condition, it is suggested that you use nasal vasoconstrictor for 2 to 3 days before starting the Nasacort AQ. First the patient should blow his nose then insert the nozzle into his nostril and spray with the mouth closed.
