Mupirocin

Munpirocin is the antibiotic, which is useful for the treatment of eczema, folliculitis( infection of hair follicles). It is also helpful in the treatment of impetigo. Impetigo is a bacterial disease of the skin which occurs because of Staphylococcus aureus and beta- hemolytic streptococci. Munpirocin is the medicine which stops bacteria to make a protein that are important. The munpirocin is also available in the form of ointment and cream. The munpirocin ointment helps in the treatment of different skin diseases, like impetigo, eczema, folliculitis, atopic dermatitis and epidermolysis. The munpirocin takes 3 to 5 days for improvement. If you figure out that your disease is not heeling or it is in a bad shape, then you need to see the doctor. Munpirocin Ointment Usp 2% with 20 mg is also available. Apply munpirocin ointment only on the area which is affected and use it thrice a day. Your skin should be clean and dry, when you are applying ointment. If you want to cover it then you can use gauze dressing. When you are using munpirocin, avoid taking other medicines because it might cause some reaction. In case of a reaction, you need to see your doctor. Even if you are using nasal munpirocin or any other medicine with it, then you need to discuss with your doctor. When you are using ointment for nasal, you need to apply ½ ointment from the tube for one nostril and ½ for other nostril. After applying ointment, you need to press your nostril. It will help in spreading it properly in the nostril. While using ointment, it should not make contact with your eyes.



The side effects of munpirocin are burning, stinging, and pain, and you might feel itching where you apply it. On the other hand, if you are using intranasal of munpirocin, then it side effects can be headache, running nose, congestion, sore throat, nasal irritation and change of taste. If rashes and severe itching takes place, then you need medical help. Before starting munpirocin, you must see the doctor, especially if you allergic to polyethylene glycol, has kidney problem or if you are pregnant. The munpirocin ointment is not harmful for pregnant women. Munpirocin ointment is not available for ophthalmic use. Munpirocin ointment is available for the age group of 2 month to 16 years kids, if they are suffering from impetigo. The cream dosage, which is used for infected traumatic skin lesions, is also applied thrice a day. If you forget to take your dose then take it as soon as possible. For this, you don’t need to double your dose. Just simply follow the regular routine. You can find treatment for fungus in the form of munpirocin ointment and cream. If you are looking for the treatment of your wounds and infected cuts then you need to take munpirocin calcium. The purpose of the munpirocin calcium is to prevent the growth of bacteria. The munpirocin ointment should be used according to the doctor prescription and should not be stopped abruptly, otherwise there is chance of bacterial growth again and your disease will recur.
