Monopril

The generic name of Monopril is fosinopril. . The purpose of the Monopril is to stop conversion of chemical in your blood that is known as angiotensin. Monopril make blood flow smoothly in your circulatory system. Monopril is the part of drugs that is known as ACE inhibitor. The Monopril is used for the treatment of the high blood pressure or hypertension. It is also used for the treatment of heart failure. Monopril is available in the form of tablets. These tablets are available in different strengths, like 10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg. The 10mg tablet is diamond in shape and it is white in color. It is scored tablets with flat ends. The other 20 mg tablets are oval in shape and its color is white. In Monopril, you can find fosinopril plus sodium hydrochlorothiazide tablets. The fosinopril plus hydrochlorothiazide helps in the treatment of high blood pressure. It is also used in the treatment of heart failure for adjunctive therapy. These tablets are available in 10-mg/12.5-mg and 20-mg/12.5-mg.



Whenever you want to start Monopril, you need to consult doctor. You might be allergic to Monopril or other ACE medicines, if you are the patient of liver, diabetes or on dialysis. In these conditions, you might not able to use Monopril. In that case, doctor will help you in adjusting your dose or you need to take some special test during using this medicine. Even if you are pregnant or planning for a baby, you need to avoid using Monopril, because it can cause birth defect to your baby. A breast-feeding mother should consult doctor, because it will affect breast milk that can cause your child growth deficiency.

Whenever you are taking your dose, take it with a glass of water. You can take Monopril with food and without food. If you forget to take your dose, then as soon as you remember, take the medicine. You don’t need to take double dose. If you take an overdose of Monopril by mistake or intentionally, you need a medical help. The overdose symptoms can be dizziness, fainting, and feeling of light head. While using Monopril, you can be victim of low blood pressure, electrolyte disorder and kidney failure. The side effects of Monopril are some allergic reactions like hives, severe stomach pain, swelling, rapid weight gain, chest pain, jaundice and fever. In these conditions, you need medical help.
