Miacalcin

Miacalcin comes in the form of injection and Nasal Spray .Its generic name is calcitonin which is a manmade hormone for treatment of Paget’s disease of bone, hypercalcemia, and postmenopausal osteoporosis. For assuring the patients who are not allergic to Miacalcin, the health care professional will take an allergy skin test. This test determines that the patient is or not allergic with Miacalcin. It is not treatment for Paget’s disease and the patient possesses a relapse, particularly the body of the patient makes antibodies and the patient turns immune to Calcitonin. Consult the health care professional if the drug is not working well, as listed on the label. During the treatment with Miacalcin, there is needed to test the blood. This test will determine that Miacalcin is helping the patient or not. Along with this blood test, there may be a need to test the urine for same purpose like testing blood. There is no need to use Miacalcin if the patient is allergic to salmon calcitonin. It is patient’s duty to inform his health care provider about any other allergy, like food allergy and drug allergy. This drug is not suitable to use in pregnancy, because there are many reasons behind it. This drug can harm the unborn baby. It also affects on breasts for their production of milk so it is strongly recommended to decline the usage of Miacalcin. The Miacalcin should not be taken in larger amounts, and always use the recommended dose. If due to any reason the dose misses, then the patient should not take the double dose. Just leave the missed dose and continue to regular doses. Always keep the medicine in dry and cool place. No boundaries are set during taking this drug. The patient can eat anything, drink any beverage and operate any machine.



There are many side effects of Miacalcin. It may increase bone pain at early stages of treatment. This is the sign that indicates that the drug is not working properly. The doctor possesses information about it. If the patient feels hives, difficulty in breathing, swelling on face, lips, tongue, or throat, then get immediate help by calling the doctor. Other side effects are head-ache, fainting, muscle stiffness, warmth, redness, itching, tingly feeling, stomach pain, skin rash, loss of appetite, increased urination, eye pain, swelling in feet, swelling or irritation of the skin where an injection was given. Before using any other drug, the patient should consult the doctor from over-the-counter medications.

The studies are not taken for pregnant women, but use of Miacalcin Nasal Spray is not prescribed in pregnancy. It is also not known that the Miacalcin comes out from breast milk or not, but it is avoided during breast feeding.
