Halcion

Halcion Tablets hold triazolam, which is a triazolobenzodiazepine soothing agent. Triazolam is a white crystalline powder, which is soluble in alcohol and weakly soluble in water. Halcion is specified for the short-term cure of insomnia (normally 7–10 days). Use for more than 2–3 weeks needs full re-examination of the patient. Recommendations for Halcion should be for short-term use (7–10 days), and it should not be prescribed in quantities beyond a 1-month supply. Halcion Tablets are contraindicated in patients with known sensitivity to this drug or other benzodiazepines. Benzodiazepines may cause fatal harm when directed during pregnancy.

An enlarged risk of ingrained malformations related to the use of diazepam and chlordiazepoxide throughout the first trimester of pregnancy has been suggested in many studies. In elderly and/or incapacitated patients, it is suggested that treatment with Halcion Tablets should be started at 0.125 mg to reduce the chance of increase of oversedation, faintness, or impaired coordination. Some side effects reported in relationship with the use of Halcion appear to be dose associated. These include sleepiness, dizziness, light-headedness, and amnesia. Some side effects reported in association with the use of Halcion appear to be dose related. These include drowsiness, dizziness, light-headedness, and loss of memory.

The most ordinary side effects of benzodiazepine sleeping pills include drowsiness, giddiness, light-headedness, and complexity with harmonization. Users must be careful about engaging in dangerous activities requiring total mental attentiveness, e.g. operating machinery or driving a motor vehicle. Do not use alcohol while using Halcion. Benzodiazepine sleeping pills should not be taken with other medications or substances that may cause sleepiness, without discussing your doctor. Worsening of insomnia or the appearance of new abnormalities of thinking or activities may be the result of an unrecognized psychiatric or physical chaos. These have also been reported to take place in relationship with the use of Halcion. An array of abnormal thinking and behavior changes has been reported to happen in relationship with the use of benzodiazepine hypnotics, including Halcion.

Halcion is a prescription drug and, therefore, should be used only as recommended by your doctor. Follow your doctor's recommendation about how to take it, when to take it, and how long to take it. As with other prescription medicine, Halcion should be taken only by the individual for whom it is prescribed. Do not take Halcion in conditions where you cannot get a full night's sleep, e.g. an overnight flight of less than 7–8 hours, because amnestic episodes have been reported in such situations.
