Fluoxetine HCL

Fluoxetine HCl is a very functional and effective medicine used to treat depression, panic chaos, obsessive-compulsive disorder, or bulimia. Fluoxetine HCl may also be used to cure other conditions as found out by your doctor. Fluoxetine is an antidepressant in a group of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Fluoxetine distresses chemicals in the brain that may become disturbed and cause dejection, panic, angst, or obsessive-compulsive indications.

Fluoxetine is used to cure major depressive disorder, eating disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Do not take fluoxetine along with pimozide (Orap), thioridazine (Mellaril), or a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, or tranylcypromine.



You may have feelings about suicide when you initially start taking an antidepressant, particularly if you are younger than 24 years old. Fluoxetine is the only antidepressant that is permitted by FDA for use in children with depression. Your doctor will have to check you at frequent visits for at least the first 12 weeks of cure. Take this medication precisely as it is prescribed for you. Do not take the medicine in larger amounts, or don’t take it for longer than suggested time by your doctor. It may take 4 weeks or more before you start feeling better. Do not stop using fluoxetine, without consulting your doctor. You may have horrible side effects if you stop taking this drug abruptly. Take the missed dose as soon as you bear in mind. However, if it is almost time for the subsequently scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take the next one as recommended. Do not take additional medication to make up the missed dose.

Go for medical attention if you feel you have taken too much of this drug. Symptoms of a fluoxetine overdose may comprise nausea, vomiting, fever, sleepiness, rapid or uneven heartbeat, confusion, fainting, seizures, or coma. Get emergency medical assistance if you have any of these side effects of an allergic reaction, like skin rash or hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, and lips, tongue, or throat. Call your doctor at once if you have any new or worsen indications, such as mood or behavior changes, unease, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, or if you feel rash, irritable, frantic, intimidating, aggressive, restless, hyperactive (mentally or physically), more miserable, or have thoughts about suicide or throbbing yourself. Fluoxetine is obtainable with a prescription, generally and with the brand names Prozac, Rapiflux and Sarafem. Other brand or generic formulations may also be available.
